Dortmund Defeats Paris Saint-Germain in Semifinal

Hummels' Header Secures Victory

Borussia Dortmund has made history by reaching the final of the Champions League after defeating Paris Saint-Germain in the semifinal. The German club's 2-1 victory at the Signal Iduna Park on Tuesday, May 1, 2024, was secured by a headed goal from Mats Hummels in the 80th minute.

The match was a thrilling contest between two of Europe's top teams. Dortmund started brightly and took the lead in the 30th minute through a stunning strike from Marco Reus. However, PSG equalized just before halftime through Kylian Mbappé's penalty kick.

The second half was a tense affair, with both teams creating chances but neither able to find the winning goal. That changed in the 80th minute when Hummels rose highest to head home a cross from Reus. The goal sent the Signal Iduna Park into raptures and gave Dortmund a famous victory.

Dortmund will now face Real Madrid in the final on June 1, 2024, at Wembley Stadium in London. It will be the German club's first appearance in the final since 2013, when they were defeated by Bayern Munich.
